On the exterior of the house, we created an impression of modest simplicity with moments of proper architectural detail and proportion. Classic white lap siding and honest silver metal roof frame front and rear porches that effortlessly connect the outdoors to the indoors; an iconic "sheaves or wheat" front handrail and pierced brick foundation screen introduce moments of delicate detailing. Careful attention to scale, proportion, and subtlety yields a house that is both quaint and appropriate.
The main level of the house uses a rectangular footprint that symmetrically flanks a central Living Room and Kitchen space with two nearly-identical Bedroom suites, each complete with a generous bath, and closets. Wide doorways and openings make the home ideal for multi-generational uses, and the efficient floorplan ensures that no space is wasted. By specifying interior details and finishes that are simple, retrained, and historic, we have lovingly crafted a house with a decidedly humble attitude.
